Diversified Insurance Services Spearheads Sherman Park Day III

Milwaukee…Diversified Insurance Services of Brookfield will lead 12 other volunteer groups for the third year in an effort to clean up, refresh and beautify Sherman Park on Saturday, May 30. Over 150 volunteers will gather at Sherman Park, 3000 North Sherman Blvd., from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, to enhance the park’s baseball diamond, tennis and basketball courts, add wind screens, backboards and new bleachers to the tennis and basketball courts, as well as paint park benches and bleachers, plant flowers, rake, mulch and sand, power wash the tennis and basketball courts, and address a general cleaning of the park.

New projects this year also include the construction of ten wellness/fitness stands in the park and the purchase of a movie projector and screen for the showing of movies in the park during the evening hours. In addition, Diversified will be funding the cost of an on-site activities director.

“Although we engaged in this project for our 25th anniversary of being in business three years ago, over these past three years we’ve been able to attract many neighbors, area businesses and associates to assist us in this worthy activity,” said Jim McCormack, Diversified’s chairman & CEO.

Other volunteers in this project include:

• Volunteer Center of Greater Milwaukee – a service of the Non-Profit Center
• Sherman Park Community Association
• Milwaukee County Parks
• Milwaukee Fire Department
• Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee – Mary Ryan Branch
• Milwaukee Tennis and Education Foundation
• David J. Frank Landscaping Contractors
• Lowe’s
• Kohl’s Department Stores – A Team
• Girl Scout Troop 1557
• Boy Scout Troop 445
• Felmers Chaney Correctional Center

Milwaukee County Parks Director Sue Black applauds McCormack, Diversified, the 12 other organizations and neighborhood volunteers for providing the manpower and funds for Sherman Park Day for the third year in a row.

“We hope other area corporations will explore such partnerships with us to help make our parks the best they can be,” Black concluded.

In addition to Black, County Executive Scott Walker, (invited), and County Supervisor Michael Mayo Jr., (invited), will be on hand for the 8:00 am kick off.
